About the role

As CTO, your primary challenge lies in managing the T&P department within our international organization. You are ultimately responsible for developing new, innovative processes and materials. Think of issues in the field of wood modification and green bu ilding. You are also responsible for defining and delivering projects. You ensure that projects are completed within scope, schedule and budget. These are in line with the challenging strategic plan and the growth objectives of our organization.

By means of your natural, coaching and inspiring leadership, you know how to deploy people with the right knowledge, methods and resources. You work efficiently together with relevant departments within the organization and you know how to deal with mutual interests. Of course you deliver the right addition in terms of safety and quality. Your duties and responsibilities also include developing and deepening the level of knowledge in the field of wood modification As well as applying new developments and technologies for wood modification to guide innovations within Kebony and with partners.


  • Formal Education
  • PhD, or at least M.Sc, from a life science or relevant engineering discipline (process, chemical, biological, wood processing, automation)
  • Additional business management education (MBA or similar)


  • Research and Development project work
  • IPR management (at least at the level where patent fundamentals are understood, preferably experienced in patent applications)
  • R&D management and organisation - including management of external partners
  • Leadership in cross-functional and international teams, including external partners
  • Business Development (familiar with Technology Transfer, different partnering models, proposals, reporting and presenting to all levels of organisation)
  • Experience from work in international high-performance organisation, preferably manufacturing industry
  • Used to manage R&D projects with internal (Kebony) and external (universities, research institutes, partners) stakeholders
  • Experience in converting R&D into commercially viable products (NPD roadmap & business case approach)
  • Experience in obtaining local (Norway) and international subsidies (Europe)
  • International experience and languages (English is company language)
