BEYONDER is a Norwegian energy tech company that has developed the next generation of sustainable Li-ion capacitors and supercapacitors for the heavy-duty industry sector.

Beyonder has developed a patented highly transformative and sustainable “activated carbon production technology” to be used commercially in producing the next generation of supercapacitors and Li-ion capacitors. These products are designed to solve crucial customer problems within selected industries such as: Renewable energy grids, transportation, and offshore energy infrastructure.

Job Purpose

The process engineer is accountable for the upscaling and production of electrode. The position exists to develop the process, control and optimize equipment in the electrode production line. These include mixing, coating, drying, and calendering processes, at Beyonder AS.

The position will also assist in specification updates and modification, machine setup, preventive maintenance, trouble shooting, and overall manufacturing support

Main tasks

  • Planning:

  • Project and development planning
  • Assist in the definition of new project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Be involved in technical strategic planning to meet company’s goals
  • Project management:

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Develop detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Create and maintain project documentation
  • Implement operational best practices
  • Operation:

  • Upscaling and production of electrodes according to the recipes developed by electrode development engineer;
  • Analyzing and optimizing production processes to maximize performance, safety, and quality;
  • Work together with electrode development engineer to optimize electrode production formulation and process;
  • Support and troubleshoot daily electrode production to improve the electrode productivity;
  • Operate electrode production equipment and produce electrode if needed;
  • Participate in cross-functional team supporting upscaling and manufacturing of pouch cells;
  • Train and educate junior employee; Other related work required from Beyonder.

Education and experience

  • Education:

  • Master in the field of chemical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering or related.
  • Experience:

  • 3+ years in battery electrode production and extensively practical experience on electrode production process and equipment.
  • Computer Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and suitable diagnostics software.
  • Languages:

  • Good communication oral and writing skills. Working language is English.
  • Preferably (willingness to learn) Norwegian for collaboration.
  • Other:

  • The position is subject to the company's current HSE and ethical guidelines.
