• Energy, Oil / Gas & Renewable Energy

The recent oil crisis lasted long enough to have a lasting impact on the energy market. Many will say for the better, although that can sound harsh to those still working their way out of the woodwork. Regardless of position, adapting to change is the new constant, calling for leaders to be bold, innovative and inspirational in the search for a “new” competitive edge.

In the wake of Trump's sanctions on Iran, the US – China trade war, the recovery of shale gas and more, there is still room for optimism in 2019. Investments in the offshore industry are set to rise, showing that at least the Norwegian oil industry is in full recovery mode, thanks to higher commodity prices but also drastic cost cuts that have made projects profitable. Although the operating companies are undoubtedly looking to be in better shape, not all parties to the oil & gas value chain have found their foothold amidst the new wave of optimism for the industry, having to adhere to entirely new market conditions since before the crisis hit.
These tumultuous times calls for different approaches to leadership. Understanding the different narratives leaders must apply for periods of growth, compared with downsizing, or even through a journey of disruption, makes all the difference.
